Kinja'd!!!

Here’s an odd problem, one I never expected to have.

I met with the oncologist again today to go over the details for chemotherapy. They checked my vitals and found that I dropped three pounds from last week. It was hard work, but I did it. Here’s the thing: the medication is based on my weight and they told me specifically not to lose any more weight. Have a few tablespoons of peanut butter, and if I need to have a donut then by all means have a donut. Uh, OK.

I’m going to have to make massive changes to my eating schedule as well. Normally I don’t eat breakfast and have a light dinner (because I don’t see any point in taking in a lot of calories in the evening when I’m sedentary), but now I’m supposed to have a full breakfast and dinner. I’ll be taking six 500mg tablets in the morning and six with dinner, and I could face awful nausea if I don’t take them within 30 minutes of eating. That’s a lot of large pills, and I just hope I can do this without gagging.

So, following doctors orders, I’ve decided to go out for dinner:

Kinja'd!!!

I’m pretty sure this is in keeping with the guidelines set forth today...

You can, but I don’t think the underlying illness is worth this prescription.

I’m not sure what is on your dinner, but it looks far superior to my dinner. Granted my dinner was frozen tortellini with green beans, so the bar wasn’t exactly set very high.

Good luck with your treatment.

Uh, if that’s 500mg of Ibuprofen or antibiotic , absolutely nothing you do is going to help with the nausea.

I speak from unfortunate experience.

Also, don’t ask for less pills. 800mg ibuprofen pills are used to choke horses.

Half Buffalo chicken (I wish it had blue cheese instead of ranch, but whatever...) and half Greek (pesto, feta, kalamata olives, onion). Delicious.

I’ve had the 800mg tablets in the past, Ibuprofen I think (after an elbow injury tossing bags at the airport) and you’re right - they’re huge. I can handle, barely, one or two 500mg tabs, but 12 a day for nearly six months? This is going to be a challenge. Maybe I should have gone the IV route...

Yeah, before they realized those fuckers instantly cause deadly bleeding ulcers, they’d just tell you “here’s a Motrin also intended for veterinary use!” (I am not joking.) “Now take as many as it takes to make the pain go away.”

This, by the way, does not fucking work for trigeminal migraines .

Yeah.

The antibiotics though, oh god. I have to choke down the 500mg pills because that’s the only antibiotic that I’m not allergic to and also don’t vomit violently at half the dose or less. But they insist on trying those first so it’s “oh god BIGGER HAMMER QUICK.” Ugh. Never. Again.

Seriously. I’m not sick. I don’t need antibiotics. I’m just fine.

Hmm, I don’t remember my 800mg ibuprofen being a problem. I take 200mg Celebrex pills these days, which are more normal sized (and hopefully less likely to cause side effects since I’m taking them for long term daily use). The recent V alsartan hctz recall got rid of my biggest pill, as the Lorsartan that replaced it is about a third the size.

I recommend bacon. Perhaps in a sandwich.

People who get 800mg ibuprofen tend to have spotty memories. Because it’s a shitty painkiller. Imagine that. ;P

We tried me on Celebrex for... two days as a back-filler . The words ‘explosive,’ ‘Usain Bolt,’ and ‘Chiptol-away’ were used in describing the side effects.

These days my biggest pile is a 125mg capsule. If that stops cutting it, it’s straight to transdermals and IVs full of ‘this shit will kill you if mishandled.’

I was subjected to military healthcare for years. 800mg Motrin is a way of life.
